Softball Game Preview: Brentwood Bruins vs. Wilson Central Wildcats

The Brentwood Bruins will venture away from home to take on the Wilson Central Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilson Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Brentwood, who comes in off a win.

Brentwood proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Independence get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

The result came thanks to Marina Mason's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Avery Mason was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Wilson Central suffered their biggest defeat since March 31st on Tuesday. They came up short against Stewarts Creek, falling 8-2. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Red Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.

Brentwood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Brentwood skirted past Wilson Central 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
