Volleyball Recap: Hillgrove Hawks vs. East Coweta Indians
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hillgrove can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Coweta Indians on Saturday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Hillgrove started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 28-26.

Despite the loss, Hillgrove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nasreen Zelaya-Salimi had 15 digs and five assists. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Zelaya-Salimi. Brie Leath also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Among those leading the charge was Kendall Clark, who had eight digs and two aces.
Hillgrove now has a losing record of 18-19. As for East Coweta, they pushed their record up to 15-20 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Hillgrove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Coweta, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Archer on the 21st.
