Baseball Game Preview: Dunbar Crimson Tide vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

Dunbar is 0-9 against Jackson-Reed since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. Dunbar will square off against Jackson-Reed at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Dunbar managed to slip by Eastern the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Dunbar lost 15-0 to Eastern on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crimson Tide have suffered against the Ramblers since May 8, 2017.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of James Madison by a score of 2-1.

Nelson Hayes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson-Reed saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Rosario hit this season.

Dunbar's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Jackson-Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Dunbar suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Jackson-Reed in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Dunbar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
