Softball Recap: Rancho Mirage Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Rancho Mirage had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Culver City Centaurs by a score of 9-5 on Thursday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Rattlers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Anelisa Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jezell Espericueta, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reyna Vergara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Rancho Mirage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Culver City only posted an OBP of .200.

Rancho Mirage is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. As for Culver City, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-16.

Coming up, Rancho Mirage will welcome Orcutt Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rattlers surely won't give up without a fight. Culver City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
