Softball Recap: Duxbury Dragons vs. Milford Scarlet Hawks

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Duxbury had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Milford Scarlet Hawks. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Francesca ?Franky? Iovanna made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Iovanna was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella ?Izzy? LaVallee, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Fiona Malloy, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Duxbury's record is now 12-8. As for Milford, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
