Baseball Recap: St. Helena Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

St. Helena won the last time they faced Fort Bragg and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Saints sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Timberwolves. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

The team relied heavily on Sam Beck, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Julian Earls also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

St. Helena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

St. Helena pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Bragg, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Looking ahead, St. Helena is taking a road trip to take on Upper Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fort Bragg, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kelseyville at 4:00 p.m. The Knights will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Timberwolves surely won't give up without a fight.
