Basketball Recap: McCurdy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Escalante last Thursday, McCurdy came back down to earth. The match between the McCurdy Bobcats and the Mesa Vista Trojans didn't end well, with the McCurdy Bobcats falling 60-46. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-29 back in January.

Tana Lopez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten steals for Mesa Vista. The game was Lopez's eighth in a row with at least 17 points. Aaliyah Boies was another key player, putting up eight points and six steals.

McCurdy's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Mesa Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Bobcats face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mesa Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Questa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Questa is on a five-game streak of home wins, Mesa Vista a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
