Recap: Monterey Trail Mustangs vs. University Red Devils

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Monterey Trail Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Red Devils out 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Monterey Trail's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kentrell Kelly led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Kelly hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Gibson Jr, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds.

Monterey Trail's victory bumped their record up to 27-4. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-6.

Monterey Trail didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 85-66 defeat vs. San Ramon Valley on the 29th. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
