Basketball Recap: Jena Skates Past Northwood with Ease

Jena won the last time they faced Northwood and things went their way on Monday too. The Jena Giants breezed by the Northwood Gators to the tune of 58-31. Fans of the Giants have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Northwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jahari Mccoy, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Mccoy has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Landon Tinsley was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

The victory was the third in a row for Jena, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Northwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jena will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Forest at 5:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025. As for Northwood, they are taking a road trip to take on Oberlin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
