League recap: Battle rises in state rank

Battle moved up to 206 from 266 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freelance. Battle was able to make move up by defeating Butler 45-21.

Cuba was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 21st to 14th in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Houston 32-24.

Vonzell Stamps was a passing and rushing force as University Academy Charter bested Summit Christian Academy. Stamps' favorite target this week was Jaedren Murray, who caught 2 passes for 34 yards.

Troy Hentges put up the best numbers through the air as South Callaway beat Scotland County. He finished with a total of 2 completions for 41 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Murray was the best receiver in the league this week as the Gryphons beat the Lee's Summit Community Ch.

Stamps was the most successful running back in Freelance this week. He ran for 173 yards on 22 carries as University Academy Charter defeated Summit Christian Academy. Isaiah Newman also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hickman takes on Helias. The Kewpies are currently in 12th, while the Crusaders are in 10th.

Pembroke Hill and St. Pius X played the closest game in the league this week, with Pembroke Hill eventually emerging with a 21-16 victory.
