Baseball Recap: Saranac Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Saranac took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Beekmantown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Eagles on Monday, they had to take a 10-3 loss.

Seth Petrashune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zack Lucia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Adrian Barnes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Saranac pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Beekmantown, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

As for Beekmantown, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Mechanicville at 11:00 a.m. The Red Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
