Football Game Preview: College Station Cougars vs. Cedar Creek Eagles

The College Station Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Cedar Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Creek took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on College Station, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, College Station got the win against Hendrickson by a conclusive 48-28. With the Cougars ahead 28-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Trey Walton, who rushed for 180 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. College Station is 2-1 when Walton posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. Keaton Johnson was another major influence, as he rushed for 39 yards and ran in a TD.

College Station's run defense was locked in: Hendrickson could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The Cougars' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.97 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.7 on average over their last five games.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Cedar Creek's offense. They were dealt a 68-0 loss at the hands of Weiss on Friday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The win made it two in a row for College Station and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Cedar Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for College Station against Cedar Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
