Basketball Game Preview: Lake Park Lancers vs. Oak Lawn Spartans

The Lake Park Lancers will be taking part in a tournament against the Oak Lawn Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Lake Park came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Glenbard North by a score of 41-38 on Friday. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 12-5 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Oak Lawn in a 55-37 win over Lyons on Saturday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Lions are ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oak Lawn is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for Lake Park, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
