Recap: Northern Valley Huskies vs. Western Plains Bobcats
The Northern Valley Huskies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Western Plains at home to the tune of 75-38. That 37 points margin sets a new team best for Northern Valley this season.
Northern Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mary Baird, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baird has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austyn Cox, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Western Plains saw an underclassman step up: Madelyn Kraus scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 55.3% of Western Plains' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaelyn Spangler was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten assists and two steals.
The win (which was Northern Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 4-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Western Plains, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Valley will take on Logan on Tuesday. As for Western Plains, they will head out on the road to square off against Golden Plains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
