Williamstown had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-14 to make it five. They lost 19-13 to the Ritchie County Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on April 1st.
Williamstown got a massive performance out of Inessa Buck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As for Ritchie County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Ritchie County's side, Rocklyn Marcum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Marcum has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Rindy Perkins was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ava Satterfield was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Looking ahead, Williamstown will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ritchie County, they will venture away from home to challenge Braxton County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
