Volleyball Recap: Tyler Hamilton Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Columbia City

Fort Wayne Northrop proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Columbia City Eagles 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

Fort Wayne Northrop had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-8.

Fort Wayne Northrop got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Hamilton out in front who had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Hamilton a new career-high. Romeo Ramos also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Fort Wayne Northrop's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Columbia City, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Northrop will welcome Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbia City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodlan at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
