Softball Game Preview: Royall Panthers vs. Ithaca/Weston

The Royall Panthers will challenge Ithaca/Weston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Royall sitting on five straight wins and Ithaca/Weston on three.

Royall is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand De Soto an 11-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Royall got a big performance out of Aunika Wopat, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Wopat has posted since back in April. Kayla Rick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Royall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as De Soto only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Ithaca/Weston sidestepped Hillsboro for an 8-6 victory.

Royall's win bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Ithaca/Weston, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
