Baseball Game Preview: Santa Teresa Saints vs. Westmont Warriors

For the second straight game, Santa Teresa will face off against Westmont. The Saints will square off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Santa Teresa needed a bit of extra time to put away Westmont. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over the Warriors. The Saints' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Santa Teresa let Marco Pacheco and Jacob Guevarra run wild. Pacheco got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double, while Guevarra went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs Guevarra has posted since back in April. Joshua Gilbreath also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Santa Teresa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.

Santa Teresa's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Westmont, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19-1.
