Basketball Recap: Tiona Wilkinson Key Part of a Team Effort in Red Devils Win

After losing to Eastside the last time they met, Williston decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The stars were shining brightly for the Williston Red Devils in a 58-40 win over the Eastside Rams on Thursday. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Rams are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Williston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tiona Wilkinson, who posted eight points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelynn Brown, who put up 13 points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Williston and bumps their season record up to 8-1. As for Eastside, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Williston will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Williston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. Eastside will take on Orange Park in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Orange Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
