Basketball Recap: Northern Garrett Takes a Loss

Northern Garrett and Southern squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Northern Garrett had to settle for second. They lost 77-54 to the Southern Rams. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Leading Southern to victory were Jacob Brown and Brayden Upole. Brown shot 73% from the field to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and five boards, while Upole went 8-for-14 en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points gave Brown a new career-high. Jared Haskiell was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on his way to 11 points and five assists.

Northern Garrett's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Southern, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Northern Garrett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern, they will face off against Fort Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Fort Hill likes a good challenge.
