Baseball Recap: Archbishop Alter Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Archbishop Alter ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dayton Christian WARRIORS 8-7. The Knights haven't had any issues with the WARRIORS recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Joe Maloney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Maloney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Grant Mouse was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jake Hemmert was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Archbishop Alter's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Dayton Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Archbishop Alter and Dayton Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights are set to challenge their familiar foe Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Dayton Christian will take on rival Emmanuel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
