Softball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Spartans vs. Wilby Wildcats
After low-scoring totals in their previous four game, Waterbury Career Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Everything went their way against the Wilby Wildcats on Monday as they made off with an 18-5 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Janessa Campos made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Trinitey Sanchez was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenesys Soto, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Waterbury Career Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-13. As for Wilby, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
Waterbury Career Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilby, they are taking a road trip to square off against Kaynor Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
