Basketball Recap: Sandia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Capital

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandia). They blew past the Capital Jaguars, posting a 101-50 victory. The Matadors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Sandia was led to victory by Isaiah Brown and Thomas Adams. Brown went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and six steals, while Adams went 9 of 10 en route to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Zaire Ndyabagye, who posted 11 points and eight assists.

Sandia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Sandia pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.7 points per game. As for Capital, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Sandia and Capital will both be playing La Cueva the next time they take the court. Sandia will head out to face La Cueva at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Capital will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
