Basketball Recap: Martez Ford's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Greenbrier over Lakeside

Greenbrier lost against Lakeside back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Greenbrier Wolfpack fell 51-42 to the Lakeside Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolfpack came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Panthers are ranked 236th).

Several Wolfpack players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martez Ford, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 15 points. The contest was Ford's third in a row with at least ten points. Nate Garstang was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 11-6. As for Lakeside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Coincidentally, Greenbrier and Lakeside will both be playing Effingham County the next time they take the court. Greenbrier will head out to face Effingham County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Lakeside will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
