Softball Recap: Muleshoe Wins Going Away Against New Deal

Muleshoe's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the New Deal Lions 16-3. The Mules might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Zoe Bustillos was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Heaven McMullen was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had over her last 12 matches. Yazylnn Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Muleshoe's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for New Deal, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Muleshoe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Clarendon on the 1st. As for New Deal, they will host Petersburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Deal has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
