Football Recap: Grandview Piles Up the Points Against Rock Canyon + How To Watch

Grandview faced Rock Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolves blew past the Jaguars, posting a 37-0 victory. That looming 37-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolves yet this season.

Blitz McCarty was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 176 yards and two TDs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing yards (24). Grandview also got a significant boost from Chris Blanks, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Grandview didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Rock Canyon to a completion percentage of just 35%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Brody Flores, Jaxson Bruntz, Neelein Shead Jr, and Javon 'Q' Walker, who each logged one passes deflected. Grandview wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Grandview, adding 13 points to the final score. All came from Noah Galvez: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 4-for-4 kicking extra points for an additional four.

The win made it two in a row for Grandview and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points over those games. As for Rock Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Coincidentally, Grandview and Rock Canyon will both be playing Arapahoe the next time they take the field. The Jaguars will host the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wolves will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
