Ashley faced New Hanover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Ashley had just enough and edged out New Hanover 5-3. The Screaming Eagle's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Jackson Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Quinn Bentley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Tanner Berry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Ashley pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for New Hanover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Ashley will venture away from home to square off against Broughton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Hanover, they will host Laney at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Hanover's pitchers better be ready for this one: Laney has averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
