Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lupton Bluedevils vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars

Two dominant guards in Marely Gomez and Olivia Klein are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Fort Lupton Bluedevils and the Resurrection Christian Cougars will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fort Lupton has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Resurrection Christian will arrive with six straight victories.

Two weeks ago, Fort Lupton ended up a good deal behind Steamboat Springs and lost 41-23.

Daniella Aviles put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Resurrection Christian). They claimed a resounding 68-23 win over Eagle Ridge Academy. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

Fort Lupton better keep an eye on Klein. She was instrumental in Resurrection Christian's win, putting up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Callie Gillespie, who put up 11 points.

Resurrection Christian's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Fort Lupton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Fort Lupton was dealt a bruising 53-19 defeat at the hands of Resurrection Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fort Lupton was down 37-11.
