Shenango comes up short on the road against Hopewell

Shenango had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Hopewell Vikings by a score of 13-12. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

For Hopewell's part, David Medich looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Logan Triscila was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Mcdonald, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenango will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Union Area at 1:00 p.m. on April 13th. Shenango will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Hopewell will take on Mohawk Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Hopewell has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
