Softball Game Preview: Green Sea Floyds Trojans vs. Latta Vikings

Green Sea Floyds hasn't had much luck against Latta recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Green Sea Floyds 3.9, Latta 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Green Sea Floyds' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Johnsonville hitters got past them. The Trojans came up short against the Flashes on Wednesday, falling 11-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered since March 12th.

Maci Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reagan Cox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Latta won against Hannah-Pamplico last Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Thursday. The Vikings beat Johnsonville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Green Sea Floyds' defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Latta, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
