Softball Recap: Poteet's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Poteet was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cole on Tuesday. The Aggies put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 16-8 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-4 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Leona Curbey, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Gabriella Ramos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Poteet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

With the victory, Poteet broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-16. As for Cole, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poteet will square off against Jourdanton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians/Squaws will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Aggies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cole, they will face off against Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
