Basketball Game Preview: Danville Vikings vs. Urbana Tigers

The Danville Vikings will square off against the Urbana Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Danville will be strutting in after a win while Urbana will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Danville turned things around against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-30 victory over the Blue Devils. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Meanwhile, Urbana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were outmatched by Monticello and fell 50-22. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Sages are ranked 231st).

Urbana's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Danville, their win bumped their record up to 10-19.

Everything came up roses for Danville against Urbana in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Danville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
