Softball Game Preview: Lake Buena Vista Vipers vs. West Orange Warriors

The Lake Buena Vista Vipers will challenge the West Orange Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Buena Vista will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Lake Buena Vista will bounce into Monday's match after beating Wekiva, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Vipers were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over the Mustangs on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Allison Curtis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Aiza Khan and Zulmarie Vega did most of the damage at the plate: Khan scored five runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Vega went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those five runs gave Khan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Blanchard, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Lake Buena Vista hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, West Orange lost 19-3 to Ocoee on Friday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Buena Vista now has a winning record of 7-6. As for West Orange, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
