Recap: Eureka Loggers vs. University Prep Panthers

The Eureka Loggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Eureka's loss came despite strong showings from Elijah Estrada and Julian Goodman. Estrada scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Goodman dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Estrada continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmil Rippy, who scored seven points.

Devin Huegel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for University Prep, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jack Ampi, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Eureka's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-10. As for University Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eureka will take on Fortuna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. University Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Anderson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1075th, while University Prep is ranked 391st).
