Basketball Game Preview: Hemingway Tigers vs. South Columbus Stallions

The Hemingway Tigers will take on the South Columbus Stallions in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hemingway is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 58-46 win over Kingstree on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Hemingway had a senior duo take command as Xavier Washington went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds and Jabri Pearson posted nine points in addition to six assists and three steals. Washington has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamer Wright, who had six points and eight rebounds.

Hemingway was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, South Columbus hadn't done well against West Columbus recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Columbus came out on top against West Columbus by a score of 48-41. While the Stallions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

South Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hemingway, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
