Basketball Recap: Lakeville Takes a Loss

If Lakeville was riding high fresh off their 51-31 takedown of Byron last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lakeville Falcons fell 42-35 to the Ovid-Elsie Marauders on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Marauders are ranked 129th).

Lakeville has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Ovid-Elsie, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Looking ahead, Lakeville is taking a road trip to challenge Genesee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Genesee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Ovid-Elsie, they will challenge Hemlock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ovid-Elsie has won seven straight at home, while Hemlock won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
