Baseball Game Preview: Haltom Buffalos vs. South Grand Prairie Warriors

The Haltom Buffalos will take on the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Haltom has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while South Grand Prairie will arrive with four straight victories.

On Saturday, Haltom didn't have quite enough to beat Azle and fell 2-1.

Mathew Turner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

South Grand Prairie hadn't beaten Mansfield on the road since March 19, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Warriors came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-4.

Dominic Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Juan Ramirez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Isaac Birtman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

South Grand Prairie's win bumped their record up to 14-6-2. As for Haltom, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Haltom couldn't quite get it done against South Grand Prairie when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Buffalos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
