Baseball Recap: Lake Region Comes Up Short

After flying high against Frostproof last Thursday, Lake Region came back down to earth. The Lake Region Thunder came up short against the Lake Wales Highlanders on Friday, falling 12-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunder in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost four in a row.

Kaeden Geraci was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jomar Caceres was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Lake Region now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Lake Wales, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Region will host Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Wales, they will be playing in front of their home fans against IMG Academy Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
