Recap: Woodsboro Eagles vs. Pettus Eagles
The Woodsboro Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Pettus 41-14 on the road. Considering Woodsboro has won three games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Woodsboro found their leader in underclassman Amarian Zambezi, who rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Brenner Kurtz and his 107 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Woodsboro's victory.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pettus to a paltry 113 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Woodsboro's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Pettus' QB won't forget Gage Veselka anytime soon given Veselka sacked him four times.
Woodsboro's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Pettus, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Woodsboro will take on Rocksprings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocksprings is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Pettus, they will square off against Brackett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brackett will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
