Basketball Recap: Orono Takes a Loss

Orono lost against Calais two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Orono Riots fell 48-37 to the Calais Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Riots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 31st).

Orono dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Calais, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orono will host Piscataquis at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calais, they will welcome Machias at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Machias will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Calais surely won't give up without a fight.
