Baseball Recap: Mound-Westonka Triumphs

Mound-Westonka proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Edison Tommies 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the White Hawks have posted since May 16, 2024.

Cole Munsterteiger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Munsterteiger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Mound-Westonka is undefeated when Munsterteiger posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Kraay, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Mason Sebasky was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Mound-Westonka's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Edison, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Mound-Westonka will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Delano at 4:30 p.m. As for Edison, they will head out on the road to take on Roosevelt at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
