Recap: Franklin Panthers vs. Andover Golden Warriors
The Franklin Panthers fell victim to the Andover Golden Warriors''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a 19-0 bruising from the Golden Warriors. While losing is never fun, Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Andover is ranked eighth).
The critical scores for Andover came from Chris Dessin and Dante Berger.
This is the second loss in a row for Franklin and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Milford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 88.9% over those games). As for Andover, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Natick at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Natick will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Andover will take on Weymouth at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
