Softball Recap: Bloomington South's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Bloomington South unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Linton-Stockton Miners by a score of 6-5. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Bloomington South got a good showing from Shilo Rockhill, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rockhill has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bloomington South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Larkyn Ivey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Carly Reed was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Bloomington South's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Linton-Stockton, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Bloomington South will challenge Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Linton-Stockton, they will take on Shakamak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
