Basketball Recap: Southmont Victorious

Southmont won the last time they faced Western Boone, and Vince Reimondo did his part to make sure it happened again. The Southmont Mounties strolled past the Western Boone Stars with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 84-66 thanks in part to Reimondo, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Evan Watson was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Several Stars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Hawkins, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Westerfeld, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Southmont's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Western Boone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southmont will face off against Seeger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. As for Western Boone, they will square off against Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
