Volleyball Recap: Pioneer Has No Trouble Against Vanden

Pioneer hadn't done well against Vanden recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Patriots blew past the Vikings 3-0. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Pioneer never let Vanden on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 29-27, 25-16.

Ally Nunez paced Pioneer's offense, picking up 13 kills. Nunez got some help from Marisa Bryson and her 20 assists. Bryson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

The win made it two in a row for Pioneer and bumps their season record up to 16-8. As for Vanden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pioneer is set to square off against their familiar foe Wood at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Vanden will challenge rival Rodriguez at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
