Softball Recap: Oak Ridge Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Oak Ridge had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They never let the Bloomfield Wildcats get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Blue Jays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kaelyn Deckerd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Ruehling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Addilyn Burnett, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Oak Ridge's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Bloomfield, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 12-8 record.

Looking ahead, Oak Ridge will square off against Oran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bloomfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
