Volleyball Recap: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Takes a Loss

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Collegiate Cougars. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-9, 25-18.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's offense was headlined by Campbell Spencer and Julianna Dimperio, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Jossy Byars and her nine assists. Finally, Miranda Hammond kept Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Collegiate was led to victory by Avery Rolfe and May Moncol. Rolfe had six aces and four digs, while Moncol had ten digs and four aces. That's the most aces Rolfe has posted since back in August. Robbieloretta Burr also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Collegiate, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-5.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against North Cross on the 13th. As for Collegiate, they will head out to face off against St. Catherine's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
