Basketball Preview: Egyptian Pharaohs vs. Crab Orchard Trojans
Egyptian is 0-6 against the Trojans since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Egyptian Pharaohs will look to defend their home court against the Crab Orchard Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Egyptian fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 51-45 W over Shawnee on Thursday.
Egyptian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Damarion Clark, who scored 23 points along with four steals, and Brandon Plott, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Plott has scored at least a third of Egyptian's points. Another player making a difference was Kendrick Williams, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Crab Orchard gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Thompsonville 89-56 at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Egyptian's win bumped their record up to 7-19. As for Crab Orchard, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Egyptian was taken down by the Trojans 73-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Egyptian was down 47-19.
