Basketball Recap: Martinsville Takes a Loss

Martinsville lost against Decatur Central back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Martinsville Artesians took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Decatur Central Hawks.

Despite the loss, Martinsville still got an impressive performance from Ruby Murrell, who went 8 of 11 en route to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Jade Meade, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Martinsville's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Decatur Central, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11.

Martinsville will take on Terre Haute South Vigo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Decatur Central, they will square off against Danville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Danville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season.
