Baseball Recap: Turner Ashby Comes Up Short

Turner Ashby fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against East Rockingham on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this match were averaging 3.83 runs allowed.

Turner Ashby got a massive performance out of Sammy Moats, who went 3-for-6 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Will Knicely, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Turner Ashby's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for East Rockingham, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Coincidentally, Turner Ashby and East Rockingham will both be playing Harrisonburg the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Blue Streaks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Knights will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
